Saturday, August 14, 2010 - Roam'n Chariots Arbor Hospice Benefit show was another success. The weather was not only the hottest yet, but muggy also. But that didn't stop these troopers from proudly displaying their vehicles and digging deep for Hospice. We again pulled off the goodie bags and plenty of door prizes. Let's not forget all the trophies too. Our raffle, special raffle and auction were all great. Many decisions to make as to which jar to put the ticket. Due to the heat, we unfortunately had to cancel the horseshoe tournament. Look for it again in 2011. Angelo still needs to be dethroned. Trivia will also be back. Our bake sale was a new successful feature. Georgia & Nancy did a great job pricing & selling. Everyone did a great job at team work this year. Some of us were relieved to have What's Up Dawg on hand with food. Our guys are probably glad they didn't have to stand over hot grills. Thanks to Kohl's in Woodhaven for all their help. If it wasn't for them, we probably would have still been setting up till 2 pm. The heat sure slowed everyone down. Our sincere thanks to everyone who participated, worked, and just joined in on this worthy cause. Hope to see you in August of 2011!!!

Grand Opening of What's Up Dawg Deli - Our friends Gino & Linda from 'What's Up Dawg' our favorite hot dog stand at our Friday night cruise at Sears in Lincoln Park, opened their new Deli at 19327 Carlisle in Dearborn (at the split of Pelham & Outer Drive). About a dozen of us car buffs filled the parking lot to be a part of their grand opening. You won't be a bit sorry to enjoy one of their great deli sandwiches. This quaint deli also features several different hot dog creations, home made soups and desserts are just a part of the awesome food on the menu. Stop by, grab the best carry-out around (it's just a carry out for now). Good Luck Gino & Linda on your new venture. ***Just make sure you keep your portable 'hot dog' stands going for us to enjoy.

Opening of Vreeland Road - the City of Flat Rock invited car buffs from all over to join them in the official ribbon cutting ceremony. The word was quickly spread through the weekly Monday night Big Boys cruise. Awesome cars lined up down the new stretch of Vreeland just west of Telegraph Road and in the Big Boys lot. The pictures below tell the story. One of our members, for today we'll call him 'Crazy Rick' a retired fireman, climbed up the tall fire truck ladder to take air shots of the days events. He is also pictured below and we think you'll all agree to the word 'crazy' or maybe just 'gutsy'. You decide. Plenty of delicious hamburgers & hot dogs were served by Big Boys, City compliments.
