Car Shows 2008
Saturday, August 2, 2008 - The Roam'n Chariots hosted their annual Hospice Benefit show at the nice setting of Brownstown Civic Center / Thorn Park.  The construction on Telegraph didn't discourage these 175 registered vehicles for this event.  We owe our success to these participants and the many spectators.
There was plenty to do with music & car trivias, u-pick-it raffle, and a live auction.  A team of our members were behind the grills again this year.  Plenty of hamburgers & hot dogs were flip that day.  Music by Fred 'Boogie' Brian is always a plus.
The horseshoe tournament was won by Angelo & Dave.  As usual the challenge is on to defeat our reigning champ Angelo.  This is Dave's second year - do we have to put out the challenge on him too?
On Friday, August 22nd at our weekly Sears cruise, we presented our check to Hospice Representative Doug Glazier.

Thank you for all your support.  Hope everyone marks their calendars for Saturday, August 1, 2009.    See you there.

Friday, September 5th thru Sunday, September 7, 2008 - Frankenmuth Autofest hosted their 25th Annual show.   With over 2500 totally awesome vehicles from 1978 and under gracing the streets, lots, and Heritage Park.
Friday night was spectacular.  Main street was jammed packed again.   The iffy skies turned their coarse for a great night.  The fireworks were awesome.  Show Director Tony is known for saying 'start with the finale and build up from there'.  And that they did.  Fireworks could be seen from all parts of town.
Saturday's dance is always a foot stomping time.  The 60's group the 'Diamonds' performed their hits as Little Darlin' and The Stroll.  The 'Beat Club' a Beetles review was very well performed.  What can we say about 'Phil Dirt & The Dozers'.  If you haven't heard this band you are really missing something.  The play a lot of great oldies, while we keep dancing and pass the beach ball in the air.
Sunday is concluded with the Veterans presentation and the vehicle awards.

Pictures to follow.

Mark your calendars for September 11, 12, 13, 2009, the weekend after Labor Day.

Saturday, June 28th - Downriver Cruise 2008.   A few 'die hards' waited out the rainy morning to enjoy a sunny afternoon.  And did it rain, the old saying 'Cats and Dogs' sure did apply.  The rag tops came down and the cruising began.
Thanks to Meijer and the City of Southgate we enjoyed the music of two bands -The Blues Brothers and Vocal Point.  Pictured below are a couple of our members doing try-outs for the Blues Brothers.  They failed of course.  Maybe they'll have Sue play the part of the Nun.
Meijer was selling Hot Dogs, Chips, Pop & Water at very reasonable prices.  The City was selling the official cruise shirts and there was a bouncy for the children.
They day was fun filled for the whole family.
Thanks again to Meijer for allowing us to park on their property!!!

St. Pius Annual Car Show held on Memorial Day Weekend at the Southgate Civic Center.
Show Director Pat D'Anna has plenty of support from our car club.  His committee not only consists of the members from the church but our members Jim Anteau, John Bauer & Brian Wolff.  Helping hands during the show are Marlene Bauer, Vickie Crawford, Tina Hoch, Nancy Elkins, Jim Salty and Raffle Mary Cox & Angie Stacy.
The show has grown since it's start five (5) years ago.  Plenty to do and see.  Participants and spectators enjoyed the show, hot dogs (KofC), pizza (Happy's Pizza), and a bake sale at reasonable prices. Scouts; along with 50/50's and raffle.  Everyone was welcomed to participate in the Southgate Heritage Days and Carnival.
The show was MC'd by well-known DJ Rockin' Ronnie.  The veterans presentation is always a plus in front of the War Memorial.

Plans are being made for Memorial Weekend in 2009 - see updates on 'What's Happening' page.
