Saturday, August 11, 2007 - Roam'n Chariots hosted their 8th Annual Hospice Benefit Show. We couldn't ask for a more beautiful day. There were many outstanding vehicles and they were all winners to us. The United Steelworkers were not present this year. The way the District has expanded it wasn’t possible for them to join us. They were very supportive and hopefully our time will come for us to unite again. That didn’t stop our team of guys Brian, John, Pat & Terry from putting on their hair nets and gloves to cook and serve throughout the show. There was plenty of food and soft drinks. We had many volunteers to assist our cooks. Door prizes, raffles and live auction aided in the success of this show. There was a lot of fun for the family. We have to say that Angelo Turrigiano remains the Horseshoe Champ with thanks to his partner Dave Cox. Dave, you were supposed to beat him not team up with him. So needless to say the challenge is on for 2008. Check out the captions by the pictures.

Friday, September 7 thru Sunday, September 9, 2007 - Frankenmuth Auto Fest 2007 was a record breaking success. 2,941 registered vehicles made the biggest year so far.
The Friday night Big Block Party started off with a few Dragsters, member Joe D'Anna driving his Cuda race car, and race car Pitt Chief Dick LeHay. The echo from these cars was so cool. Thousand of car enthusiasts walked down the middle of Main Street looking at some great rides. There was so much to see and do in Frankenmuth. The town was certainly rockin?.
All day Saturday vehicles from 1978 & under could be seen at Heritage Park. The McDonald's children's craft tent and the Ronald McDonald show is always a plus. Saturday night dance had openers 'The Contours' followed by Phil Dirt & the Dozers. The dance floor was so packed that people danced in the isles and the crowd didn't want the night to end.
The trophy presentation started off with the special veterans awards. Two of our members were fortunate to receive awards. Congratulations to Gary 'Boogy Man' for being the Top 25 winners with his '56 Customized Chevy; and to Harry for his '57 Buick winning the 'Special Pick for 'Most Heavenly Body'. Both vehicles are pictured below.

Sunday, July 29, 2007 - Member Mike's wife Donna and her committee did a fine job of sponsoring their first car show. The show at Bridgewater Resort Style Living for Active Adults in Brownstown, Michigan hosted about 85 show vehicles. We were all welcomed to view the beautiful homes, beautiful grounds, and recreation area at Bridgewater. The day was sure a very hot & sunny. For a $5 entry fee, Bridgewater provided hot dogs, chips and soft drinks for free. Check out these awesome homes at #734-783-0535 or visit www.delwebb.com |
Saturday, July 28, 2007 - Cruise Telegraph was an enjoyable time for all who joined us at Gilead Baptist Church on the Telegraph route in Taylor. This was our third year that Gilead generously shared their lot with our members and many other car enthusiasts. Their drive-thru car show kept the team from the church on their toes. People came from all over to receive a goodie-bag and try their luck in winning one of the beautiful trophies. Food was provided at reasonable prices and free water was a plus throughout the day. We again extend our thank you to Gilead Staff and our members Gary & Linda for their help in organizing this day and inviting our club members to join in. |
Saturday, June 30th - Thanks again to Meijer we were allowed to park on three grassy areas for the Downriver Cruise. At 10 am we opened the three lots to non-members of our club to enjoy the bright sunny day with us. Many great rides were on display all day long. For the second year in a row, we were able to team up with Southgate Parks & Recreation. With the help of Meijer there was entertainment by the Downriver Daddy O's on Friday evening. On Saturday, DJ Ian Holmes from Lightening Productions was spinning the oldies in the am and Vocal Point was on hand for Saturday afternoon. Let's not forget the games that kept the children occupied during the entire cruise. Our Club and the City of Southgate presented the new Store Director of Meijer with an appreciation plaque. Mayor Norma Wurmlinger presented this plaque for us. Prior to the cruise a team of our guys had a 'Ramp Building Party'; there were three workers & three supervisors - what a ratio. Member Jim had his sign painting talents on display as U.S. Steel teamed up with Saturn. Watch For More Pictures!! |
Saturday, June 23rd - St. Pius hosted their annual car show. Many outstanding vehicles showed up for this rescheduled date. We were entertained by a Karate Exhibition by members from Russ Hanke's Soo Bank Do College in Wyandotte. This annual show also has an additional highlight of honoring our Military. Pat D'Anna an avid Military supporter and a Korean Veteran, directs the days festivities. This event was MC'd by Rockin' Ronnie (he himself a Veteran Marine who served in Vietnam). Paula Zasadny mother of soldier Holly McGeogh who lost her life in Iraq, presented these Veterans with their awards. Also honoring was Ret USAFR John 'Skip' Bushard of 'Lest they be forgotten' group, who also lost his son in Iraq. |
Friday Nigh Roam'n Chariots Sears Cruise Nights begins 5/4/07 (Weather permitting)
Sunday, June 17, 2007 - under beautiful sunny skies and down by the river in Wyandotte Michigan's Bishop Park, over 100 vehicles were on display for the Annual Wyandotte Braves Father's Day Show. This years unusual car show featured a wrestling bout with WWE's former champion Brutus 'Barber' Beefcake (he was also known for being Hulk Hogan's partner). Brutus along with a four (4) other single events and a 15 man 'Over the Top' match, sure put an unique twist to this already popular show. The awards were even 'one of a kind'.
Our applause to the show directors John & Shirley Kuzdzal. Great show & good job.
